Founded in 1993, Kinross Gold Corporation (Kinross) is a senior gold mining company with a diverse portfolio of operating mines in the United States, Brazil, Ghana, Mauritania, and Russia. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Kinross employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide.
Kinross is engaged in gold mining and related activities, including exploration and acquisition of gold-bearing properties, the extraction and processing of gold-containing ore, and reclamation of gold mining properties. Gold is produced in the form of doré, which is shipped to refineries for final processing. Kinross also produces and sells silver (as a by-product to the primary gold production).
Kinross is the 4th largest gold producer in the world based on FY17 figures (FY16: 5th). The company produced 2.7m equivalent ounces of gold in 2017, and expects to produce about 2.5m equivalent ounces in 2018. For FY18 60% of Kinross' production is expected to come from the Americas, 20% from Russia, and 20% from West Africa.
